We often receive questions about job opportunities for older workers, and in fact, out of our team of live-in carers, more than 230 are over the age of 50. At The Good Care Group, we believe that age is just a number; what truly matters is being caring and passionate about providing outstanding care. Many of our team members have prior caregiving experience, often stemming from their roles in caring for loved ones or friends. They’ve found joy helping others and are now eager to embark on a fulfilling career in live-in care.
People working in live-in care come from many different backgrounds. Some people may have decided that retirement wasn’t for them after all. Some people might want a change of direction, some people may want a change from a normal nine-five job.
Meet Barbara, Professional Live-in Carer
After spending decades away from the live-in care sector, Barbara decided to return to The Good Care Group (TGCG). She was drawn to the flexibility and variety of rota patterns we offer, which allow for a great work-life balance.
“I find live-in care deeply rewarding, knowing I’ve made a difference in my clients’ life.”
With over 40 years of experience in the care sector, including working in care homes for individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs, Barbara brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her role. Whenever challenges arise, Barbara knows she can rely on her colleagues and care manager, who understand the emotional demands of the job. With TGCG there is ongoing training and support to ensure our carers feel equipped to handle any situation with confidence and provide the best care possible for our clients.
How live-in care at The Good Care Group supports older workers
Live-in care offers a flexible, personalised solution for older workers. Some of our key benefits include:

Rota patterns: We offer a variety of rota patterns to suit your availability, which allow for a great work-life balance.
Time to care: You will be caring for one person at a time, or at most, a couple. Providing person centred care for your client means you can manage your time without the usual pressure of caring for multiple people at once.
